Restorative Justice works to build and strengthen relationships and accountability. It is often seen as an alternative to punishment within the school system, however this is just a small part of what RJ is about. In this Community Building Circle, Teen Conference attendees, adults, and HSC Board Members will have the opportunity to come together at the beginning of the conference to establish accountability, open communication, and conference expectations. The shared goal of having a fun, meaningful conference will be the starting point as participants will utilize restorative practices to find consensus when possible as well as understanding in terms of how possible infractions will be dealt with for the duration of the conference. Participants are encouraged to bring a small, meaningful item with them that they are comfortable being passed around the circle.
